I'm sure that the fashion module will be my favorite. I love the idea of fashion, yet I will need some time to see how it connects with education, overall.
I think that there is a bridge between the art of making clothing or creating trends and education. We certainly see trends come and go in the profession/science/art of education and we see them resurface or fade away like things within the fashion world. I also feel that it's so much more than simply clothing, shoes, bags, and accessories. I have been shocked in and throughout each module the complexity of the art and I am sure it will be no different in this case.

Hi.
ReplyDeleteI've been dreading the fashion module - I have been trying in vain to find connections between fashion & education with no luck, but your post gives me some inspiration. I've begun to think about lasting trends in fashion, like a nice tweed jacket, and what makes it timeless (good material, nice cut, long lasting). If I can apply those qualities to teaching, success!
I am glad that the last module turns out to be your favorite. I find two concepts that can fairly easily connect the education and fashion.
ReplyDelete1. design. What does a (fashion) designer do? Can we say teachers is a designer of teaching? If so, what does it exactly mean? Can the concept of design be applied to learners? In other words, can we say that ideally learners are designers of their own learning experiences?
2. classic. What is considered as classic in fashion industry? What specific qualities or features can we find from these classic work? If we translate this to learning, what type of knowledge should we deem as the core knowledge?
